Medieval Royal Imagery: Politics or Religion?

The seminar will focus on royal portraits and their politics or religion functions within the Medieval society by hosting two renowned German scholars specialised on this topic: Prof. Ludger Körntgen from the University of Mainz and Prof. Knut Görich from the University of Munich. In this frame, subject, methodology, and scientific relevance of the project “Royal Epiphanies. The King’s Body as Image and its Mise-en-scène in the Medieval Mediterranean (12th–14th centuries)” will be presented as well.
